Why will a venue scan my I.D

WHY WILL A VENUE SCAN MY I.D ?
The venues that use ClubScan and its’ staff have a legal obligation to ensure that they do not serve alcohol to anyone under the age of 18 years, additionally they are required by law to prevent crime and disorder, prevent public nuisance and have an obligation to public safety.
To assist them in complying with these legal obligations, they may require you to produce Passport, Driving License, PASS ID, or other National Identification, which may be processed through Clubscan.

Clubscan is a computer system which takes a scan of the identification you present to the venue, it checks your age and whether you are listed on the venues database of people who have been barred from that particular venue.

Clubscan is used to help the venues achieve their legal and moral obligation of providing a safe and enjoyable environment for their customers, where only those people who are admitted are of legal age and are unlikely to interrupt other customer’s enjoyment.


CLUBSCAN IS VOLUNTARY

You are not obliged to permit a venue to scan your identification through clubscan. By permitting the venue to scan your ID, the venue may use your information for the following reasons:

A log of customers on our premises, To assist with police and other local authorities To assist the staff in fulfilling the any of the four main principles of the 2003 Act, Marketing, both anonymized and individually, some venues may want to keep you informed of their events. They will have notification of this at the point of entry, should you not wish to receive information you can simply opt-out at any time.


THE SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION

The venues will do its best to keep your information secure, and will be aware of the main principles of the Data Protection Act. Your information is not normally accessed by any other staff member other than the Managers of the premises.

The customer facing screen only displays your image for a short period of time, much like a CCTV monitor. Access to any other part of the system is password protected.

Your information will only be used for the stated purposes for which it was gathered, and your information will not be taken out of the EU

Information will be kept for as long as deemed necessary. In some cases this could be as long as the statute of limitations on personal injuries is set, which will normally mean a maximum of three years.

You may have access to the information a venue holds on you at any time by making a written request to the data controller of the venue you visited.

Normally information is only stored locally and is protected by a security encryption key
